What happens when you are witnessing a crime? What do you do when you notice someone committing a crime in your presence? We live in
a time where there is so much going on around us and with so much information thrown at us at any given minute that we do not have time
to process anything. Most of the time people are reacting and not process a thing. People are so engrossed in their cell phones that
they are getting hit by cars while they are trying to cross the street, let alone noticing or witnessing a crime.
What do you do when you are witnessing a crime? The first thing you have or need to remember is to stay calm. Take deep breaths if you need to, so that you can stay calm as possible. Try and stay focus, because in the heat of excitement your heart rate, respiratory rate will increase, and your eye sight will narrow as if you are laser focus. We don’t what you to be laser focus, because then you will miss some important activity or information that will be going on around you at that very moment.
When you witness a crime being committed here are some things that you can do such as;
Police departments make certain that serious types of crimes receive high priority and they will try to get you some help as soon as possible depending on the nature of the crime that was committed. I know that a shooting or person with a gun, knife wielding person will cause police officers to used lights and siren to get to you in less than 3 minutes. Make sure you describe the crime committed. As I stated early, be a good witness and not a dead hero. Write down and try to remember everything you see this is what convicts criminals and puts them behind bars where they belong. |
