Here we go again or is it this just the way it is in Americans these days involving a gun(s) and shootings causing all sorts of problems with their use in society today. They say that Americans love to own a gun(s), also because it is their constitutional right to bear arms. The question is why do you feel that you need to own a gun(s) other than a constitutional second amendment right to bear arms. We are not in a civil war are we in our own country? We are not fighting a war against a militia are we.

Then why do we have to have a need for a gun(s) in your home? Most people who are gun advocates will state that the second amendment of the constitution gives us that right to have a gun(s) in our homes or possessions. Also we have a right to defend ourselves against those who commit evil acts against their neighbors. Others would say that they have a right to a gun(s) because they like to go hunting as a recreation. These are all of the standard answers as to why people believe they should have the right to own a gun(s). They also believe that if everyone had a gun(s) then this would give the perpetrator a pause about committing a crime against his fellow man because he or she would believe that the person also owned a gun(s).

Our second amendment of the constitution does describe or gives an explanation as to why Americans have a right to bear arms. Here is what the actual second amendment of the constitution states; "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed."

Let me try and provide and explanation as to what the second amendment is trying to provide to us as a nation. At the time of this second amendment America did not have an military force of its own to provide protection against those enemies outside of America and those enemies that live within America's own walls.

So when they stated a well regulated militia was when different states took up arms against one another for their own protections. But when America finally became one and incorporated its own military for protection there was no need for a militia.

The second part "being necessary to the security of a free state" this also was when every stated had to provide for their own protection to remain a free state at that time when each state was more so acting independent of a united country. This does not occur anymore because all of the states are under the united union of the United States Of America.

The third part "the right of the people to keep and bear arms" when America as a whole were acting as independent states or some states wanted to act as countries in themselves. The writers of the constitution gave the American people the opportunity to bear or have in their possession weapons or a gun(s), because of the fear that a militia would mount an attack on the people. Now that America is united and together having its own military for protection against outside forces. Also all of the states within the United States of America have their own police force to provide protection against those enemies that are within each state.

The fourth part "shall not be infringed" talked about when the states were independent with no military or police force for protection against the militias the writers wanted to make sure that the people had rights to bear arms and they should not at that time be infringed upon.

Part five put it all together the second amendment; "A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed." From what you have just read, do we really need a gun(s) in our possession?

Almost every day in America you hear or read in the news of someone being shot and killed with a gun(s). It does not matter how the killings are committed, from regular citizens or the police. Then once in a while we get wind or hear or read of someone committing a mass murder of innocent people. These people being slaughtered for no reason at all, just because of just plain hate. Then we are back to that same old question how did they get access to another gun(s) to commit these heinous crimes in our beloved country of America? The debate continues.
